Over the last few years, GSI has demonstrated the breadth and depth of their security systems expertise to their largest clients through the design, renovation and systems integration of their critical security command centers.

Consumers Energy entrusted GSI to redesign and renovate the command center at their corporate headquarters to meet their current operational requirements while accommodating anticipated future growth in security operations staff activities.  This project included adding new Winsted consoles, reconfiguring existing ones, and the relocation of the existing fiber optic interface, CCTV matrix switch gear and DVRs to an adjacent secure location to free up space.  New ceiling mounted Panasonic 50″ plasma monitors were installed to enable integrated CCTV multiplex/spot views, recorded playback, and access control alarm/mapping functions.  GSI’s design and installation transformed a cramped and inefficient space into an ergonomically friendly environment that enable Consumer Energy security operations staff to perform their work more efficiently while allowing for future growth and expansion.

GSI completed the integration of CCTV, intrusion detection, emergency communication and visitor entry telephone monitoring systems at Ford Motor Company’s Global Command Center for worldwide operations.  Utilizing a powerful security integration platform, GSI integrated DVRs and IP cameras at Ford facilities across the globe with the Global Command Center’s central station intrusion detection monitoring receiver equipment.  This integrated system gives Ford a web-based operation system that provides real-time event information including interactive maps and drawings of facilities as well as event protocols for the command center operators.  The operators are able to view all information from the various systems at one glance, allowing for greater efficiency in monitoring and responsiveness.  Additionally, the integration of video with the visitor entry phone systems enables the Global Command Center operators to receive audio and video verification and to remotely grant access to the corresponding facility.  The system will be expanded in the near future to integrate Ford Motor Company’s global access control system with the intrusion detection and CCTV platform to provide more flexibility and control of Ford’s facilities.

The health care sector has been one of the most active construction markets in the region and Gemellaro Systems Integration, Inc has recently been involved in construction projects with two of the most prominent health care providers:  Beaumont Hospitals and the University of Michigan.

GSI is in the process of building the power, lighting and fire alarm systems for the new 5 story, 105,000 square foot Beaumont Physicians Office Building located across Dequindre Road from Beaumont Hospital’s Troy location.  It is a part of the $420 million, 780,000 square foot expansion at the busy Troy Beaumont campus.  This major expansion has been necessitated by a doubling of admissions since 2000.  The office building will house a pharmacy as well as space for individual and group practices with completion scheduled for early 2009.

Additionally, GSI just completed the renovation of an existing space in the University of Michigan Rachel Upjohn Building to create the 12 room Sleep Lab & Temporal Isolation Facility.  This is a unique facility dedicated to sleep disorders testing and sleep hygiene interventions.  GSI handled the power distribution, the nurse call system and the specialized lighting systems.  The specific soundproof requirements of the environment mandated particular care and expertise involving penetrations and installation procedures.

Beyond these two projects, GSI has been involved in the planning and designing of additional health care opportunities and is anticipating a strong increase in revenue pertaining to this particular sector amongst its extensive commercial and industrial base.
